Hey! I'm Lauren!

I live here in Kansas City, with my husband, my son Ryder, our kitties and our chocolate lab, Hudson.

It's wild how I got here. Growing up, I didn't have any interest or talent in being creative. I couldn't draw, my pottery always looked lumpy, and  I certainly couldn't paint. But I loved my books and hanging out with my Dad in the garage while he tinkered in the shop. I can still remember the pine smell when he would cut wood. It's one of my favorite memories.

I started woodworking when I was 25. I had just moved back home and needed something to do with my time and my hands. I started with making blanket ladders and mason jar holders. Over the years I found myself honing in on what I wanted to make. I tried building furniture, string art, then moved into the farmhouse style signs, and then I found scroll saw art and I was amazed. I loved the idea of taking a flat piece of wood and shaping into something 3D.

Now, 12 years later, I've found myself able to combine my love for books and woodworking into one passion project. And the best part is, I get to put my headphones on, listen to a good book and find  inspiration about my next piece. My art is created from a mixture of painted wood and hardwoods to give dimension and make it feel as realistic as possible. Each piece is shaped by carved and shaped by hand, painted and assembled by me.

I primarily work off custom orders, with a few fun pieces mixed in. Everything I make is one of a kind and isn't massed produced. Just me and my own two hands.  Creating art that brings people joy in their homes is still at the heart of everything I do. Now, I get to blend that with a bit of magic too.
